The Library is pleased to announce the latest version of the Library and Archives Martha Hill Collection web site. Ms. Hill’s entire collection was digitized with the support of the Leon Levy Foundation. In addition to the curated collection, you may discover the entire contents of her vast collection on ResourceSpace.
All of the photography was done by Ardon Bar Hama; Archives Director Jeni Dahmus and Assistant Archivist Lee Anne Tuason cataloged and prepared all of the digital assets on ResourceSpace. The web site development was done by former Digital Media Librarian Eric Mortensen, and updated by our new Digital Media Librarian Olivia Buck and Special Collections Cataloger Ethan D’Ver.
Ms. Hill was keenly aware of the historical significance of her role in establishing the first conservatory dance program in America. In addition to her own collection, she also documented the early years of the Division through a series of Dance Scrapbooks that were maintained from 1951/52 to 1990/91.
Further, she ensured that all of the Division’s productions were filmed; we have digitized these films and you may view them in JMedia here (these films represent the earliest performance media done at the school).
Please help us share this wonderful resource widely!
