Two New Exhibits in Juilliard's Library

by Olivia Buck on February 11th, 2025 | 0 Comments

The Juilliard Library is pleased to announce the opening of two library exhibits for Spring 2025:

In honor of Black History Month in 2025, the library and archives are excited to bring back the exhibit “Claiming Your Space: A Celebration of Black Music at Juilliard,” guest curated by Dr. Fredara Hadley with the assistance of archivist Jeni Dahmus Farah. This display combines historical research and archival materials to spotlight the artistry, history, and humanity of Black Juilliard students. If you’re curious to explore the exhibit’s curation, be sure to read Dr. Hadley’s journal article published last year and check out the 2024 performance commemorating the centennial of the first Juilliard program dedicated to the contributions of Black performing artists.

The “Chamber Music Highlights in the Juilliard Manuscript Collection” exhibit is also currently on display in the Juilliard Manuscript Collection exhibit cases, across the hall from the main library.  The display offers an opportunity to view original manuscripts of works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Schubert, and allows visitors to glimpse their compositional processes through these documents. If you’d like to learn more about these manuscripts, we encourage you to visit the Juilliard Manuscript Collection online.

We invite faculty, staff, and students to visit the library and experience these exhibits firsthand, where you can connect with materials that provide a deeper look into these meaningful histories
